KWTX's Matthew Ablon reported that a city contractor made contact with a natural gas line in a local Central Texas city Wednesday afternoon.

The contractor ruptured a three inch natural gas line while working in the 1700 block of North 23rd Street in Waco. Fire crews responded to the scene a little after 3:00 p.m.

The strong wind was causing the gas leak to evaporate, and nearby residents weren't in any danger.

Atmos Energy came out to the scene and was repairing the broken line to ensure safety for the north Waco neighborhood.
