Local Police Warn of Cash Scammers Using Old Tricks

A local police department is warning the public about a pair of grifters.

Hewitt police have released surveillance footage of a man using an old "quick change" scam, in which he tries to pay for small items with a big bill, then uses sleight of hand and fast talking tactics to convince the clerk to give him change for a bill he never handed over.

Police say the man had a partner suspected of pulling the same scam, and the pair are believed to be from North Texas. If they're still in the area, police hope someone will recognize them and turn them in. They also want cashier and customers to be on the lookout for scammers.
