Douglas Alexander III was arraigned in Bell County Friday after attempting to swallow cocaine during a traffic stop by Harker Heights police.

Alexander, 38, was stopped in Harker Heights Thursday for driving with an expired registration sticker. An officer asked Alexander to open his mouth when he noticed a white substance fall out of it, but Alexander began chewing instead. The officer attempted to stop Alexander from swallowing the substance, and during a struggle about 0.4 grams of cocaine fell from Alexander’s mouth and on to the ground.

Alexander was arraigned on a state felony charge of possession of cocaine, less than one gram. His bail was set at $25,000.
