DALLAS (AP) — The mother of a writer and activist connected to the hacking collective Anonymous is set to be sentenced for helping to hide laptops from federal agents.

Karen Lancaster McCutchin pleaded guilty in May to obstructing execution of a search warrant related to a federal investigation of her son, Barrett Lancaster Brown. Prosecutors say she agreed to hide two laptops belonging to Brown in a kitchen cabinet to conceal them from FBI special agents. She is scheduled for sentencing Friday.

Brown faces three separate indictments that include accusations of making threats to a federal agent and posting a link to stolen information. His case has gotten widespread attention among groups who believe he's being unfairly prosecuted.
