As many of you pigskin-loving Texas fans know, National Signing Day has come and gone as new recruits made their commitments to play football at their respective colleges. University of Texas arguably had the best day in the country as it broke the top 10 in class ranking after some late commitments on Wednesday.

The biggest upset was Brandon Jones (Nacogdoches, TX), the No. 1 ranked safety in his class and five-star recruit who shocked everyone by going with the Longhorns. It was an especially big burn to Texas A&M who made a documentary for Jones, thinking he was going to join the Aggies.

The Longhorns' defense looks like it will have a substantial future with defensive tackles Jordan Elliott and Chris Daniels, as well as defensive end Erick Fowler who flipped from LSU (sorry Tigers).

Unfortunately Signing Day did not bode well for the Aggies. They were leaning heavily on Jones who was scooped up by Texas, and after a rough off-season losing two young five-star quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray, A&M needed something big. They got a handful of solid players to land in the top 20, but they were burned by four-star offensive tackle Patrick Hudson who signed with Baylor and four-star linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch who turned to the Longhorns.

Only time will tell for Texas schools. See you in the fall!
