A new Walmart Supercenter opened its doors in Temple Wednesday morning.

Located at the corner of West Adams Avenue and Old Waco Road, the store features an expanded fresh market center and self-service gas pumps. The spacious Supercenter will be open 24 hours and employ around 300 full and part-time workers.

During a grand opening ceremony, Walmart representatives presented $3,500 in grants to local charities and community improvement groups, and vendors were stationed outside with barbecue and cold drinks for the early bird shoppers already lining up.

The new store is just the latest example of Temple's incredible economic growth. Other new businesses expected to open in Temple soon include Aspen Dental, Noodles & Company, and Panera Bread.
