A Nolanville man who participated in a Black Friday contest sponsored by Old Navy has won $1 million.

Scott Rowe was one of the first 500 people in line at the store Thanksgiving night, all of whom were given game pieces as part of Old Navy’s Overnight Millionaire Black Friday Sweepstakes. Rowe, an 11-year army veteran, was chosen at random Friday from a pool of contestants from across the country.

When Old Navy representatives contacted Rowe by phone, he expressed disbelief and thought it might be a joke. Once he realized he’d just become a millionaire, he pledged to use the money to put his 6 and 7-year-old daughters through college and make this year a memorable Christmas for them.

Rowe has spent the past 5 years working in Afghanistan as a civilian training dogs to detect explosives. He was set to fly back to Afghanistan in about two weeks, but he now plans to stay home and spend the holidays with his family.

Rowe will receive his $1 million check from Old Navy at the Harker Heights store on Wednesday.

Check out the two videos released by Old Navy: One an audio recording of the phone call informing him that he’d won and the other an interview with Rowe following the great news.
