(KCEN) -- One person was killed and another was left injured after a wreck near Lampassas last night.

The accident happened at 7:55 p.m. yesterday on Highway 281 near County Road 2806.

A 1990 Dodge, driven by 23-year-old Bradley Elwood Drinnon, from Milburn, Okla. was headed southbound on 281 and had five to eight vehicles following behind it. One of the vehicles following behind Drinnon, an unknown Chevy pickup, passed the Dodge and several other vehicles in a no-passing zone.

That is when 18-year-old Steven Ryan Schutze, from Cedar Park, who was driving a 2003 Ford Mustang northbound on the road, veered right to avoid a collision with the Chevy pickup. Schutze lost control of his vehicle and went into the southbound lane and hit Drinnon's Dodge.

Drinnon was injured and taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Schutze was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 p.m. His body was taken to Sneed Funeral Home in Lampassas.
