One worker was killed and three others injured after the steel frame of a building under construction collapsed Thursday morning in Argyle.

The structure, intended as a new indoor activities center for Argyle High School, fell apart just after 8:00 a.m. Argyle ISD Superintendent Telena Wright released a statement saying that the deceased and the injured were members of the construction crew, and that no students were near the work site when the accident occurred.

Officials have not released the names of the construction workers or the conditions of those injured. Investigators are working to determine why the structure collapsed and have cited high winds as one possible explanation.

Argyle is located around 20 miles north of Fort Worth.
