Over 5000 acres of Coryell County has been burned by a wildfire that has been growing since Thursday of last week. KXXV reports the fire was 50% contained on Sunday evening. Firefighters from Fort Hood, Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights and Southwest Bell County have joined in the effort to contain the fire. Officials are asking the public to stay away from the fire off Harmon Road, and not to fly drones over the affected area.

County officials issued an evacuation for residents living north of County Roads 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, and 142. Star Road and Slater road residents were also asked to evacuate but the evacuations were lifted by Saturday evening.

25 state agencies are assisting local fire departments along with the Texas A&M Forest Service. What's really kinda scary is how may wildfires are burning right now in the state of Texas. You can actually track those fires here.
