ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Police in North Texas have shot and killed a man who they say attempted to stab an officer who had responded to a 911 call.

Two Arlington officers went to a home Thursday after a person called 911 from the residence and then hung up.

As the officers entered the home, the assailant approached from behind a wall and tried to stab one of the officers.

Authorities say both officers began to retreat toward the door and then fired on the man as he came toward them.

The man, who authorities have not identified, was taken a hospital where he died.

The officer who the man attempted to stab was not physically harmed.

Officials say the confrontation was recorded by the body camera worn by one of the officers.
