A Bell County woman who was critically injured in a shooting in West Bell County passed away, authorities reported Monday. Police now say the incident may have been a murder-suicide.

Paul J. Gately and Brandon Hamilton with our news partner, KWTX, report that Linda Gilleen, 71, was critically injured in the December 10 shooting in a home at 735 Slawson Lane south of Killeen. She was airlifted to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, where she passed away

Gilleen's husband, William Gilleen, 75, died at the scene.

The two were discovered by a deputy performing a welfare check on the night of the shooting. Investigators say Mr. Gilleen appears to have died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They are awaiting a final forensics report, and the shooting remains under investigation.
