A Burleson County sheriff’s deputy died Thursday morning after being shot while attempting to serve a warrant.

Sgt. Adam Sowders and a team of officers were fired upon as they entered a rural residence to serve the warrant. Rowders was hit and died shortly after 6am. No one else was hurt and a Burleson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said suspects in the case are in custody.

Police have not released any information about the suspects or the nature of the warrant.
