The attorneys for a Temple teenager have filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Waco after the teen claims he was pinned under a Temple police cruiser for 10 minutes and suffered third-degree burns.

According to KWTX, the lawsuit claims Kalem Gonzales, who was 15 at the time, was struck by the cruiser while walking away from his home on January 14, 2015. Gonzales alleges the driver left him pinned under the vehicle with the engine running until fire fighters arrived to lift the car and get him out. He reportedly suffered burns to his torso, thighs, pelvis, and genitals.

Gonzales is seeking compensation for medical bills, physical pain and impairment, mental anguish, and disfigurement.

Police say Gonzales was a suspect in a home invasion burglary at the time of the incident. Temple City Attorney Kayla Landeros told KWTX the city is aware of the lawsuit and working with the Texas Municipal League to address the case.
