Temple police are investigating after a 3-year-old child was apparently crushed by a television Monday night.

Officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of South 5th Street shortly after 11 PM. According to Sgt. Mike Bolton, someone was performing CPR on a 3-year-old child when officers arrived.

The child was transported to McLane Children’s Hospital and passed away a short time later.

Sgt. Bolton said it appears the child was climbing a piece of furniture to reach a TV when both fell over atop the toddler.

The child’s body has been scheduled to undergo an autopsy.
