Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Temple City Council candidate Tony Hennes who was found dead inside his home yesterday. Hennes had served the city of Temple in a number of roles over the years after his career in television.

Many Central Texans knew Tony as a news anchor on KCEN News 6 over the years. We learned just a few weeks ago that Hennes had planned to make a run for the Temple City Council after a seat was vacated by a previous councilman.

News 10 spoke with the executor of Hennes' estate last night and confirmed many had been trying to reach Tony on Monday. When no one was able to find him a friend went to Hennes' house and found him unresponsive.

Tony Hennes was 72 years old. He also put in about 10 years working for the City of Temple as the public information officer. Hennes had also spent time serving as a spokesman for the mayor and the city council itself. His final arrangments are still pending.
