Temple Fire & Rescue is now accepting applications for the 2018 Miss Flame competition.

Thomas Pechal with TF&R announced Tuesday morning that the competition is open to any sophomore or junior girl attending high school in the Temple Fire response area with a grade average of at least 80. The winner will receive a $500 college scholarship from the Temple Professional Firefighters Association Local #846 and represent Temple at the Bell County Fire Chief’s Miss Flame Contest.

Applications are available at Temple Fire & Rescue Central Station, 210 North 3rd Street. Interested students can also reach out to their school's guidance counselor to apply.

Completed applications are due by 5 PM Friday, September 21, and interview are scheduled for 2PM Sunday, September 23 at the Central Station.
