Temple Fire & Rescue responded to two different fires at the same location over the weekend. It was the second time this month firefighters have been called to the property.

The fires occurred at 1313 North 2nd Street in a detached two-story garage apartment Friday evening and Saturday morning. Crews were dispatched to the first fire shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday following a report of heavy smoke billowing from the structure. The scene was cleared at 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

Fire crews returned the scene shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to battle a two-alarm fire believed to have been started by hidden smoldering embers from Friday’s blaze. The scene was cleared shortly after noon.

A home on the property was heavily damaged by a fire on Saturday, August 2. All three fires remain under investigation. Both the house and the apartment were vacant at the time of the fires.
