Temple Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire in the 800 Block of East Avenue B Friday.

 

The first unit on scene reported smoke coming from the rear of a wood framed structure.  Firefighters entered the residence to search for occupants but found no one inside.  Fire damage was limited to the rear outside wall of the house and deck.

Preliminary dollar loss to the structure and is estimated at $20,000. There were no injuries.  The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional and caused by an electrical short.  The home had smoke alarms, however they were not operational.  The fire displaced a family of four.

The call was dispatched at 11:34 a.m., the first unit arrived at 11:38 a.m., and fire under control was given at 12:06 p.m. The last unit cleared the scene at 12:51 p.m.
