Bedwell, who represented District 6 and was the board’s Vice President, resigned during a meeting Monday night. She sent a letter of resignation to TISD in January notifying board members and administrators that, because she was no longer residing in District 6, she no longer met residency requirements.

Board members have expressed differing opinions on whether Bedwell’s replacement should be appointed or elected. Further discussion on the matter will take place during a special meeting at Temple Bible Church at 8 a.m. Friday. Those in favor of an election feel it would be appropriate given the two years remaining in the term for District 6, but others are concerned about a decreased filing time due to upcoming elections in May.
