A Temple man was arrested Sunday after police say he first threatened to shoot himself, then turn his gun on officers.

21-year-old Dakota Lee Edward Dale was booked into the Bell County Jail at 5:05 AM and faces an unspecified third-degree felony charge.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at Luck's Trailer Park at Burger Road and IH35 around 1 AM. When they arrived, they saw Dale standing outside of a trailer with a handgun.

Dale reportedly placed the gun against his head and threatened to shoot himself. The responding officers took cover behind nearby trees and commanded Dale to drop the weapon.

The officers say Dale moved the weapon away from his head and fired at them. When an officer shot back, Dale immediately surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

Neither Dale nor the officers were injured.

Temple PD's General Investigations Unit is investigating the incident
