A Temple man who locked himself in a home and threatened to harm himself surrendered peacefully Tuesday.

The incident took place at a home in the 2500 block of 205 Loop. Officers were called to the home shortly before 1 p.m. after Joshua Ruben Rivera, a man under investigation in a family violence case, threatened to commit suicide. Police negotiated with Rivera for around 90 minutes before he surrendered. Police have not confirmed whether he was in possession of a firearm.

Rivera is being held on $35,000 bond and faces charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member and injury to a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual, with intent to cause serious bodily injury.
