UPDATE 4:15 PM: TPD Public Information Officer Shawana Neely said lockdowns had been lifted at nearby schools, and students were being released to parents and bus drivers.

The DPS helicopter was no longer circling the area, but there's been no word of an arrest or any development concerning the suspects.


 

Police cruisers were blocking and regulating traffic along Saulsbury Drive and Betsy Ross Drive in Temple Monday afternoon as they searched for two shooting suspects.

Around 2:15 PM, we witnessed several emergency vehicles speeding past our offices on Saulsbury Drive.

Around 3:05 PM, Temple PD Public Information Officers Shawana Neely was at the scene and spoke with us.

Neely said police were searching for two black males in connection to a shooting on Betsy Ross. Neely said a male victim had been fatally injured, but could not provide further details at the time.

Nearby Kennedy-Powell Elementary School, The Peanut Gallery, and Temple High School were placed on lockdown as police searched for the suspects.

A DPS helicopter was circling the area as of 3:25 PM, and Texas Rangers were assisting in the search.
