Two Temple police officers and a Temple firefighter were injured Saturday morning after a drunk driver rear ended a police cruiser.

Police were arresting another drunken driving suspect in the 200 block of Southeast HK Dodgen Loop around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when 28-year-old Gary Bruce Couch Jr. struck an officer’s car with his Lexus, causing the police cruiser to slam into another officer’s vehicle. The two officers were injured along with a firefighter on the scene.

The two police officers were treated for minor injuries at Scott and White Hospital and returned to duty that night. The firefighter’s injuries did not warrant transportation to a hospital.

Couch was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
