Citizens in and around Temple are being encouraged to safely and anonymously dispose of unused prescription medications Saturday.

The Temple Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The free program encourages citizens to leave unused prescription drugs with police for safe disposal.

Police are asking that all medications be left in their original bottles, and they may be dropped off in the Temple Police Department lobby at 209 E. Ave. A and at the Temple Police Mobile Command Unit which will be parked outside of the Scott and White Center for Diagnostic Medicine on the corner of South 31st St. and West Ave. R.

The drop-off location in the Temple PD lobby is available year-round, 24 hours a day.
