Some 6,000 meals are on their way to Haiti thanks to some special kids in Central Texas.

According to KCEN, students at the Wheatley Alternative Education Center worked with the non-profit group Kids Against Hunger to send meals to the Haitian victims of Hurricane Matthew. Staff at the Wheatley Center and with Kids Against Hunger hope the event teaches students about the importance of volunteer work and giving to those people who do not have enough to eat.

For anyone who would like to get involved to help the communities in Haiti who's food supply was wiped out by the hurricane can still participate. The Wheatley Alternative Education Center plans to hold a few more food packing events this week. For more details on how you can help them check out the information at www.fillthebowl.com.
