Temple Wildcat Coaches Show Week 4
In this edition of the Temple Wildcat Coaches Show, Temple Head Coach Scott Stewart and I discussed the hard-fought battle against the Waco Midway Panthers last Friday night.
Our Temple Wildcats were in the number one rated game by Dave Campbell's Texas Football, and though the Wildcats gave the Panthers a tough fight, the game ended up being a 40-28 loss.
Coach Stewart I broke down the X's and O's of what we saw on Bob McQueen Field that night. The Temple Wildcat rushing attack was put in check by a very disciplined Midway defense. The passing attack was the Wildcats' main weapon at hand on offense, T.J. Rumfield threw for over 342 yards, and the defense even got on the scoreboard with a pick six by Markel Reed for 76 yards.
We also discussed this week's challenge, the Round Rock Cedar Ridge Raiders. Coach Stewart used the term "rinse and repeat" regarding the Raiders, as they'll resemble the Panthers in size and stature. Coach touched on the fact that the Raiders have lots of athleticism at their skills positions, and also have "big nasties" in the trenches.
I also got the chance to talk to one of the gurus behind the Temple Wildcats defense, Coach Rawley Farrell. Farrell expressed in the interview how he believes his defense handled the Midway Panthers, and also what they took away from the loss. The Temple Wildcats gave a valiant effort, and anyone who was at the game knows the match was way closer than what the 40-28 score tells.
The Wildcats are in preparation mode as we approach Friday's game against the Round Rock Cedar Ridge Raiders, which will be an away game at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Round Rock.
