Temple police say a woman shot a teenage suspect in the leg Monday night after witnessing him and two other men breaking into her car.

When officers responded to the area of French Avenue and 11th Street at 7:50 PM, the woman told them she had parked her car in her parents' driveway and left her purse inside the vehicle with the doors unlocked. When she and her father heard the man's dogs barking outside, they went to investigate and saw three people trying to get into her car.

The woman and her father began chasing the men, at which point the woman drew her pistol and shot one of the suspects in the leg. The other two escaped.

The 15-year-old suspect she shot was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the teen is a citizen of Temple.

No arrests have been made, and the case is currently under investigation.
