LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) — An East Texas school bus driver on the job less than a month has been fired after dumping about 20 alleged unruly students at a busy intersection.

The Longview Independent School District driver was dismissed Wednesday over the Sept. 13 incident. Her name wasn't immediately released. The incident happened as children from Forest Park Middle School were being transported home.

Longview ISD spokesman Adam Holland says district policy requires students to be dropped at assigned areas.

Holland says the driver could have used a radio on the vehicle to call dispatchers and get assistance, such as contacting parents. He says another option would have been to drive the vehicle and the children back to the bus barn.

Holland says a substitute driver now handles the route.
