Texas Child Bitten by Shark in Galveston

A 5-year-old girl is recovering after being bitten by a shark at a Galveston beach.

The girl was reportedly in knee-deep water when she was bitten below her calf, just above her left foot by what her father described as a three to four foot long shark with a white stomach.

According to KXAN, the girl's foot was not severed and there was no damage to her bones.

Authorities believe the shark bit the girl because it thought she was a fish. They are not classifying this as an attack.
