A Texas man's wife says he let his emotions get the better of him when he confronted a boy who reportedly bullied his step-daughter and slapped him in the face.

37-year-old James Peace of Dear Park has been charged with felony injury to a child. Peace's wife told KTRK her daughter was being bullied by a 12-year-old boy, who made hateful comments about her appearance and threw ice cream and rocks at her. The girl called for a ride home, and Peace went to pick her up.

On the ride home, Peace reportedly saw the alleged bully and a friend walking, at which point witnesses say the man got out of his car and confronted the boy. Police say Peace slapped the boy in the face with an open hand, then threatened to attack him again if he told anyone. The boy, afraid to tell his parents, later talked to teachers about the incident.

Peace's wife says she does not agree with what her husband did, and that he "took it too far".

As for Peace, KHOU reports that he denied the allegations until police made him aware that it was captured on camera, after which he confessed.

In an interview with KHOU, Peace said he wishes he could go back and change what happened, but added, "If it it was any of my kids, I would handle them immediately as soon as I got a story about that."
