At the time of my writing this article, I was on the phone with one of my colleagues who was on the road driving and she loudly exclaimed "LORD, PEOPLE IN TEXAS CAN'T DRIVE!!". While I laughed at her road rage, a recent study by the website "Smart Asset" shows that fact actually back her claims.

Texas was ranked #9 on the list of "The 10 States With The Worst Drivers" but the reason is much more troubling than idiots who just cut you off in traffic.

What's even more troubling is that Texas accounts for the most DUI fatalities in the United States.

Tragically for Texas it has the highest percentage of deaths coming from drunk drivers at 40% and yet it is in the better half of states for DUI arrests. - Smart Asset

The report goes on to say that due to ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft leaving the Austin area, those numbers could increase. Meanwhile, Florida tops the list at #1 followed by Mississippi, Oklahoma, New Jersey & Delaware rounding out the top 5.

Let's get it together fellow Texans! Slow down, don't drink and drive and get a designated driver or use a Uber or Lyft but we've got to get better!
