KHOU is reporting Three Rivers ISD in south Texas just approved paddling as a disciplinary action for students.

The policy approved by the district allows for students to be paddled as corporal punishment for misbehavior. Parents can opt in or out with written and verbal consent according to the Corpus Christie Caller Times.

Three Rivers IDS voted 6-0 in support of the measure.

According to Fox News the school district's superintendent Mary Springs says, "If the parent is not comfortable with it, that’s the end of the discussion." The policy will start at the beginning of the upcoming school year.
