The Associated Press reported that a white Texas superintendent has resigned after racial remarks regarding the play of Houston Texans Quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The white superintendent said online, "You can't count on a black quarterback." The superintendent who said that was Lynn Redden of the Onalaska Independent School District.

On Saturday,  Redden said in a letter to the Onalaska Independent School Board, "That his comment posted earlier in the week on the Houston Chronicle's Facebook page was "wrong and inappropriate."

Redden apologized to Watson for his remarks, and also pointed out that Watson could have been very critical of his comments. Watson instead was very positive, and handled the situation very peacefully.

Redden had criticized Watson for letting the clock run down in the Texans 20-17 loss to the Titans last Sunday before completing a pass.
