How far would you drive to eat pie? The Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, Texas, has what many consider, the best pie in the lone star state. The Blue Bonnet Cafe has been a Hill Country fixture sine it opened back in 1929 and the John Kemper family has owned it since 1981. Many of you may remember and miss the ever-popular Bluebonnet Cafe that used to be here in Temple. The Blue Bonnet menu has something for everyone, salads, sandwiches, chicken-fried steak, even pot roast. They serve breakfast all day, but whatever you eat, save room for a piece of their legendary pies. Or, if you like you can go in just for the pie.

A while back John and his wife were sitting in the hot tub trying to figure out how to increase business in the afternoon. i don't know if it was the heat or the bubbles, but the idea of "Pie Happy Hour" was born. So now you can stop in between 3 pm and 5 pm for a slice of famous pie and drink.

The pies are made fresh. They typically make between 50 and 100 creme pies a day, and 20 to 50 fruit pies a day.

So take some time to plan a trip to Marble Falls. Your taste buds will thank you for it.
