City pride took over Saturday in Moody.

KWTX is reporting that over 250 residents of Moody hit the streets with one goal in mind. Clean the city and make it a "Better Day."

The event was hosted by The Well Church. Pastor Jared McClure said..."We wanted to see a chance for the community to come together and everyone to pitch it. It's not about the church, it's not about one organization, it's about the whole community and bringing us together to bring a better day to Moody."

Volunteers were served free lunch by the Girl Scouts, while the Moody High School culinary arts class prepared desserts.

The group also helped paint and clean up a home in the city.

Other local groups, including Moody ISD and the City o Moody joined in the community service effort.

Organizers are hoping next year's event will be even bigger.

In a time of hate speech and a country that seems to be splitting apart, this is a wonderful plan that every community should be trying to copy. Remember "United we stand, divided we fall."
