Thieves are Stealing Packages from Local Post Offices

Somebody has been stealing over-sized packages from mailbox lockers at local post offices.    So far, they've robbed post offices in Temple, Belton, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Waco and other nearby cities.

According to police, the robberies started on December 20, the latest happened last Friday. The thieves just walk into smaller post offices, pry open the over-sized mailboxes and steal packages in broad daylight.

The mailboxes are used for packages that won't fit inside normal-sized P.O. boxes,.

Authorities believe it’s a group of robbers specifically targeting smaller post office buildings with no security cameras.

Inspectors with the United States Postal Service are now investigating.
