It takes a special kind of evil to steal toys meant to comfort kids who have witnessed and survived abuse, especially at Christmas time.

San Antonio's Battered Women & Children's shelter provides toys to children who enter the facility to make their stay as warm and inviting as possible given the circumstances. They also provide children with birthday and holiday gifts so they don't miss out on these special times.

Two weeks ago, thieves broke into the shelter's storage room and stole every single toy in a true act of evil and selfishness, according to a report from KVUE-TV.

Thankfully, area businesses stepped up to help. However, the shelter could use a hand with other items needed to provide a comfortable place for women and children in need. If you'd like to help, visit .fvps.org or  kvue.com for a list of things they need and how to make sure it gets there.
