Modern day treasure hunters will gather at the Mayborn Convention and Activity Center in Temple this weekend as the Texas Association of Metal Detecting Clubs hosts the Texas Treasure Show.

Admission is $3 at the door, and kids 12 and under get in free.

Thanks to the event's organizer, Michael Heim, I was able to interview two world famous treasure hunters who continue to discover gold, artifacts, and relics both on land and at sea. (Michael is Club President of the Statewide Chapter of the TAMDC, and I want to thank him for putting  me in touch with these incredible people.)

Captain Carl "Fizz" Fismer will be the keynote speaker at the Texas Treasure Show banquet. He's recovered artifacts from some of the world's most famous shipwrecks, and continues to find more. He'll have some of his finds on display at the Mayborn Center, and you'll have a chance to meet him. He's even appeared on Pawn Stars three times as an appraiser.

W.C. Jameson is another famous treasure hunter and author, and based on my interview with him, I'm pretty sure he's related to Indiana Jones. He'll be hosting a special presentation on the Lost Adams Diggings - one of the great Southwestern treasure legends he's helping to unearth.

I also spoke with Michael Heim, who gave me details about the Texas Treasure Show and what the Texas Association of Metal Detecting Clubs does and how you can get involved.
