The first mass shooting on a college campus turns 50 this year.

According to the  Downtown Austin-UT Patch, UT officials will stage a re-dedication on Monday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of mass shooting done by Charles Whitman from the Main Building Tower.

The Tower Garden will be rededicated August 1st, and a memorial to the victims of this tragedy will also be unveiled. It's located just north of the main building, the UT Tower. The Tower Garden was dedicated in 1999 in memory of the victims.

The clock on the tower will be stopped at 11:48am, the exact time the shooting began 50 years ago. The clock will remained stopped at 11:48am for 24 hours. It'll also be bathed in light.
