A family in Horizon City, Texas say El Paso County Sheriff's deputies and animal control officers lured their mastiff, Zeus, from their yard while they weren't home and fatally shot him. Dash cam footage shows the efforts to lure the dog out, but freezes as shots are fired.

The deputies were responding to reports of an aggressive dog roaming the neighborhood, but it is unclear if Zeus was that dog. Neighbors who witnessed the shooting told CBS 4 that they saw no reason for the shooting as the mastiff was not being aggressive.

The call to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was said to have come from animal control officers requesting help with an aggressive animal near Eastlake High School.
