The Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery group is planning to lay out more than 8,000 wreaths for the holiday at the cemetery this year. Just as in years prior, and volunteers are needed to help prepare, lay, and retrieve wreaths honoring the veterans laid to rest here in Central Texas.

Preparation of the wreaths starts at 10 AM Saturday, November 17th at the Killeen Special Events Center, which is located at 3301 W.S. Young.

The volunteers needed for this will fluff the silk wreaths and attach new bows. The volunteers will also load the wreaths on trucks to be taken to the cemetery.

The Laying of the Wreaths will take place starting at 10 AM Saturday, November 24th at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The cemetery is located at 11463 State Highway 195. A brief program will be followed by family members laying wreaths at graves of the loved ones they have lost. Volunteers will lay wreaths at the remaining graves.

Wreath retrieval will take place starting at 10 AM Saturday, January 12th. Volunteers will collect the wreaths and put them back on the trucks to be returned. For more information regarding the Wreath Project, check out WreathsforVets.org.
