Part of growing up is sometimes taking your parents for granted. This website seeks to get us to visit our parents more often in a controversial way.

SeeYourFolks.com uses 2014 World Health Organisation life expectancy data to calculate the number of times you'll see your mom and dad before they pass away based on your location and their ages.

It seems pretty macabre at first, but the site administrators say the goal of See Your Folks is to encourage people to make the most of the time they have left with the people they love.

"We believe that increasing awareness of death can help us to make the most of our lives," the sites's Who Are We? section reads. "The right kind of reminders can help us to focus on what matters, and perhaps make us better people."

Even if you don't make use of the site, maybe you can call up mom and dad and arrange a visit.
