Texas Governor Rick Perry says the Federal Emergency Management Agency has reversed an earlier denial of aid to the city of West.

FEMA has approved additional funding to help in the recovery process after the explosion of the West Fertilizer Plant in April.

In a statement released today, Governor Perry expressed appreciation for those who helped in the appeal for a major disaster declaration for West. "This, along with the disaster relief funding provided by the Texas Legislature, will help this community rebuild their infrastructure, school district and public works as quickly as possible," he said in the statement.

A White House edict did not specify how much money would be designated for West, where 15 people were killed and dozens injured in that fertilizer plant blast.
