KWTX's Kathleen Serie reports that a woman suffered fatal injuries in an accident on Interstate 35 in Salado early Monday morning.

The collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. in the southbound lane near exit 284.

The woman reportedly crashed in to a guardrail, and then into the cement base of the exit sign at the scene. The vehicle received a great amount of damage, and the southbound lanes were shut down for a helicopter to airlift the woman to the hospital.

The woman was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, and the scene of the wreckage was cleaned up by 10:00 a.m.
