A woman was sent to Scott & White Hospital early Wednesday morning after leading police on a low speed chase along I-35 from Waco to Temple.

The pursuit began around 1 a.m. when a Waco officer tried to stop the woman because she was traveling at 20 miles per hour in the southbound fast lane. The woman ignored the officers and continued driving between 20 and 30 miles per hour along the highway.

The Waco officer ceased his pursuit after the woman reached Hewitt.  McLennan County Sheriff's Deputies took up the pursuit in Bruceville-Eddy, after which the woman increased her speed to 50 miles per hour. Temple officers eventually deployed spike strips and brought the car to a stop near mile marker 305.

The woman was taken to Scott & White for evaluation. Police have not released her name or any information about why she refused to stop.
