Union, NJ – After a slow offensive start for the fourth-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders, Zach Anderson passed for 3 touchdowns and added a touchdown run, all in the second half, for a 34-7 win over Kean University on Saturday.

Anderson, a sophomore from Odem, threw for 161 yards on 12 of 14 passing and added a 4-yard touchdown run, after the Cru offense could only put up 3 points in the first half of the game. Senior running back Elijah Hudson added 154 rushing yards on 23 carries for a Cru offense that racked up 445 yards offensively against the Cougars.

Junior linebacker Deshon Kinsey had 10 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks to lead the Cru defense that held the Cougars to 43 rushing yards and 125 yards of total offense. UMHB also posted six sacks and forced five turnovers.  Kean’s only score of the game came on a 100 yard kick-off return by Damian Corredor in the third quarter.

UMHB improves to 2-0 on the season with the win while Kean drops to 0-2. The Cru will now have their highly anticipated home opener at the new Crusader Stadium against Wesley College on Sept 21st at 6:00 p.m.
