Temple Fire & Rescue responded to a two-alarm fire that destroyed a home at 1313 North 2nd Street early Saturday morning.

The call was dispatched shortly before 2 a.m. Firefighters initially entered the home and took the offensive against the blaze, but were forced to evacuate as the fire grew in intensity. Crews then switched to using aerial ladders to control the fire and called in additional engine companies for assistance. The fire was under control by 4 a.m.

The unoccupied home received extensive damage and is considered a total loss. Fortunately, no one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
