All week long we heard about the dynamic three-headed attack of the George Ranch High backfield and how dangerous they could be.  The Temple Wildcats made sure to put more emphasis on the "could" part of that phrase.

Even before a leg injury knocked Senior QB Timon Nolan out of the game, it was clear the Longhorns weren't going to get anywhere near their 372 yards per game average.  Temple blew through gaps and created a major disruption in the backfield early and often.

After moving the ball across midfield on the first drive of the game, the George Ranch offense didn't put together another sustained drive until late in the 4th quarter.  The Wildcat offense built a 21-point lead before the Longhorns got their first score on the board in the final quarter.

Temple's relentless pressure on defense allowed the offense time to find their footing, and, eventually, the endzone.  Saturday's matchup against Austin Vandegrift includes a battle against a semifinalist for Dave Campbell's Mr. Texas Football in Senior QB (and Yale commit) Jamie Hudson.

Listen to Tuesday's special hour-long Temple High School Coaches Show, and check back this week for continuing coverage of Temple High School's State Semifinal appearance.  Saturday's game kicks off at 7:30 at San Antonio's Alamodome, and we'll have a special pregame show beginning at 6:30 pm.
