Four people are dead and one severely injured after a domestic disturbance in Killeen escalated into gun violence Sunday night.

Police were called to a home at 1706 Godman St. at 10:26 PM after receiving a 911 call about a disturbance. When they arrived, a witnesses said a male resident of the neighborhood was armed and had fired several shots. When officers entered the home, they found two people dead and one injured from gunshot wounds. They were told that the man responsible had fled back to his home at 1710 Godwin with his wife as a hostage.

Officers moving in on the second address heard gunshots inside. A tactical response unit was deployed to the scene and attempted to speak with the gunman. TRU officers entered the house at 12:26 AM after receiving no response. They found the gunman and his wife dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

According to a press release issued by the Killeen Police Department, a preliminary investigation revealed that the 30-year-old gunman shot a 29-year-old woman, 41-year-old woman, and 40-year-old man at 1706 Godman, then forced his 28-year-old wife back to their home at 1710 Godman where he then shot and killed his wife and himself.

All but the 41-year-old victim were pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving victim is being treated at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple and is said to be in serious condition. The deceased will be sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy.

The names of the victims and the shooter have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
